One Broker is one of the fastest growing independent Insurance Broker Groups in the UK
Over the past 10 years, the One Broker group has gone from strength to strength, in 2017 positioning 37th in Insurance Age’s Top 100 Independent Commercial Insurance Brokers. Since receiving this accolade, the One Broker group has continued to consolidate its position launching three new specialist schemes, One Guarantee, One Indemnity and One PMI.
One Broker Ltd was founded by seasoned insurance professional, Robin Plaster. Having worked in several well-regarded insurance brokerages, predominately across the south of England, Robin went on to play a key part in building the second largest new home warranty provider in the UK. With his 30 years of experience, paired with his ability to inspire and lead a team, in 2009 Robin went it alone with the aim to build one of the UK’s most successful insurance brokers.
The One Broker group was born with the acquisition of Knowlden Titlow Insurance Brokers Ltd. Formed by John Knowlden and Jon Titlow in 1992, the Norwich based broker aimed to offer a unique face to face personal service for owner managed companies in East Anglia. This strategy was a success, enabling the company to grow at a fast rate.
After joining the One Broker group, Knowlden Titlow Insurance Brokers Ltd rebranded to KTIB and upsized to an office in the prestigious Broadland Business Park. KTIB have since gone on the develop a number of schemes, such as ‘Torque Bike’, aimed at Motorcycle Dealerships, in addition to the innovative development of their award winning claims reporting system.
NWBIB Ltd was the next company to join the One Broker fold in 2014 which was formed by separating the insurance element from NW Brown Group Ltd. This acquisition extended the One Broker group’s reach across Cambridgeshire. They continued to develop their business in specialist sectors including education, technology and estate management. The growth of NWBIB’s influence in the latter sector was highlighted by the launch of WeLoveLettings, a scheme aimed at Tenants, Landlords and Agents.
NWBIB moved from Cambridge City centre to a stylish new office at the Cambridge Research Park, to accommodate the ambitious growth strategy planned for the group.
Saw the acquisition of P J Weller and Son Ltd, an insurance broker based in Barking, Essex. One Broker took the decision to rebrand them to PJW in line with the rest of the group. The company has a long and rich history- founded in 1903 by Percy Weller, it is the longest established independent commercial insurance broker in the UK. From humble beginnings covering horses and carts, in later years the firm diversified to supply insurance to taxi firms and other large local businesses.
PJW moved to the beautiful surroundings of Sion Park in Hertfordshire.
Gibbs Denley Insurance Services Ltd joined the One Broker group, making it the fourth company to be acquired. With offices in Cambridge and Bury St Edmunds, shared with Gibbs Denley Group Ltd, the One Broker group welcomed the passionate and professional new team into the family with open arms. Gibbs Denley was originally formed in 1990, with its insurance service focusing on providing advice for both commercial and personal clients. After joining the One Broker group, Gibbs Denley Insurance Services Ltd have continued to expand its influence in established and new markets, including the education sector and Tenant Management Organisations.
Due to continued growth, One Broker’s Norwich office underwent an expansion and renovation
The One Broker group’s Cambridge based members relocated to a new office on the Cambridge Research Park. The move demonstrates both companies’ dedication to the growth of their insurance services and commitment to providing high standards of professionalism to clients.
Saw One Broker Ltd acquire John Albion, who specialise in the insurance of unusual homes including barn conversions and thatched or period timber framed homes. They joined KTIB in the group’s Norwich office, and continue to trade as John Albion within the group.
KTIB, NWBIB and PJW rebrand to One Broker, we believe it’s natural to trade under the same brand to provide clarity and focus to our clients and our insurer trading partners. As part of the rebrand we will have greater ability to negotiate on our clients behalf with insurers using our increased scale to strive to satisfy our clients’ needs so they can enjoy the same level of expertise and service from our staff.
